Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori 2013 | Alluring & Authentic | don’t miss this great value!
The Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori 2013 is an intense ruby red in color. This wine shows aromas of red fruit well amalgamated with spicy and balsamic notes. The palate is ample and enveloping and features firm and supple tannins. The wine is very persistent, and the aftertaste brings back the notes first felt on the nose.
From 2010 on Villa Antinori has found a second youth and, with the opening of the new Chianti Classico cellars, a new home as well. The Antinori family, with this offering, has wished to render homage to a historic label and a wine with a long tradition. The first vintage was the 1928 and, up until the year 2000, the wine represented over time the house’s concept of Chianti Classico.
From the Critics! | Impressive & Energetic
92 Points James Suckling: “Lots of blue fruits and violets to this wine. Full body, chewy tannins, and a tangy, fresh finish. Very intense. Better in 2017 but impressive and energetic now.” 8/16.
91 Points, Kerin O’Keefe, Wine Enthusiast: “You’ll find alluring aromas of fragrant blue flower, wild berry, menthol, dried herb and a whiff of exotic spice on this radiant red. The juicy palate shows surprising richness for the vintage. Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori 2013 expresses ripe black cherry, crushed raspberry, vanilla and cinnamon alongside polished, fine-grained tannins that leave a firm finish.”
91 Points, Monica Larner, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate: “Based in an authentic sense of territory, the Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori 2013 is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot – although Renzo Cotarella tells me that the goal is to soon make this wine 100% Sangiovese. While the bouquet is generous and nicely concentrated with dark fruit nuances and succulent spice at the back. Delicate floral nuances of wild rose and violets are given ample room for expression. Yet the mouthfeel is velvety and fine in texture. This is an excellent set of wines from Marchesi Antinori and the talented winemaking team based in Tuscany. Also impressive are Villa Antinori’s two top wines – Tignanello and Solaia – from the 2013 vintage. Compared to 2011 and 2012, both these wines show a superior sense of harmony and intensity.”
