Six Sigma Ranch Diamond Mine Cuvée 2015 | Same Napa Terroir + Different Zip Code = Super Value!
Six Sigma Ranch Diamond Mine Cuvée 2015 presents a deep and dense ruby color. The nose is generous from the get-go. With ripe plum and Bing cherry balanced by oak, layers of earth, cinnamon, and incense. While big, round, and extremely pleasing on the palate. Then wrapping up in a long finish with firm tannins. An ideal wine for a weeknight steak, or a get-together with friends. Drink now-2028.
Winery | The wine shows notes of dark chocolate and minerality on the nose, and the palate immediately showcases flavors of dark chocolate-covered cherries, with the perfect amount of earthiness keeping it grounded. Full-bodied, well balanced, and multifaceted, complete with a prolonged juicy finish. Six Sigma Ranch Diamond Mine Cuvée 2015 delivers as an incredibly versatile wine. Pairing well with a wide variety of foods; from steak, roasted chicken, Italian fare, and grilled veggies
High Elevation Lake County | “The Grapes don’t know which county they are in”
The grapes were sourced from the Diamond Mine Vineyard site on our ranch. This site is named for the “Lake County Diamonds,” small volcanic-made pieces of quartz that litter the ground and glimmer in the sunlight. The vineyard sits at 1,700 ft. elevation and is surrounded by an untouched landscape.
The Mayacamas Mountains, create the western ridge of Napa Valley. Yet also continuing up into Lake County. Here the same red volcanic soils prized in Napa are prevalent. As one Lake County winemaker recently told Esther Mobley of the San Francisco Chronicle: “The grapes don’t know which county they’re in.”
Winemaker Sandy Robertson
Winemaker Sandy Robertson has parlayed Six Sigma Ranch Diamond Mine Cuvée 2015 from Six Sigma’s stellar fruit. Not to mention his experience working with California legends Merry Edwards and Dan Goldfield. Resulting in a round, robust, and structured blend. Notably inspired by one of Spain’s most revered wines—Vega Sicilia’s $400 “Unico,” which also combines Cabernet with Tempranillo.
Sandy moved to Sonoma County in 2007 to work in the cellar at Merry Edwards Winery and stayed on after harvest, eventually moving up the ranks to become Assistant Winemaker. Next collaborating with Dan Goldfield to make Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for The Calling. Finally joining the Six Sigma team in August 2016.
