Susana Balbo Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 | Gourmet Burgers la amiga
Susana Balbo Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 is a deep bright ruby color. With perfumed aromas of cassis, blackcurrants, redcurrants. While displaying hints of roasted coffee beans and tobacco and a touch of fresh mint and fresh herbs. In addition, echoing complex aromas on the palate with layers of fruit and spices coming on and on. Finally, sweet on the entry with round tannins. Hence, this full-bodied wine shows a lively and harmonious acidity that leads to a fresh and pure finish
As in most of these wines, there is a small percentage of other varieties, in this case, 5% Merlot. While following a similar process as the whole range, ending with 13 months in French barriques, mostly second use. Yet, the oak is imperceptible, the ripeness is almost perfect. In addition to some black olive-like aromas and a balanced, elegant palate with the textbook Cabernet tannins.

93JS | Susana Balbo Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 exudes beautiful dark fruit and raspberry character. Adding full body, velvety tannins, and bright fruit. Pretty and drinkable. Most of all, pure and delicious wine. Drink or hold.
91RP | The Susana Balbo Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 is sourced from one specific plot from the Finca Brio in Los Árboles in the district of Tunuyán in the Valle de Uco. The objective here is to avoid green aromas, so the grapes have to be picked ripe but at the same time keep acidity.
Drink Business Magazine Woman of the Year: Susana Balbo
Born into a traditional family, Susana reneged of her fate since she was young by applying to study nuclear physics in Bariloche. While, being this a very unconventional choice for the time, her parents refused to let her leave Mendoza. Yet, from that point, Susana decided to follow the family business (viticulture) professionally, thus challenging the contemporary social beliefs, because at that time no women had graduated as winemaker.
So, in 1981 Susana received her degree in enology and became the first woman in Argentina to do so. Since her career started in Cafayate, Salta province at Michel Torino winery where she was in charge of developing and stylizing the Torrontes varietal. Afterward, she worked at many well-regarded wineries such as Martins and Catena Zapata.
Most notably, in 2012, recognizing Susana Balbo as one of the “Most influential women wine-makers” by The Drink Business magazine. Recently, in 2015, she was awarded by the same magazine as “Woman of the year”.
